Heron's Cove Lake House
Frequently Asked Questions
In case you were wondering!
Are pets allowed? We love our pets, and we know that it can be difficult to leave them; therefore, we do welcome small, non-shedding dogs for a pet-fee (up to 2 small dogs only). The pet fee ($100) covers the cost of extra cleaning to ensure that subsequent guests will never know that a dog was in the home! We do provide baggies for pet waste, pet blankets to protect the furniture, and food and water bowls.
Are there any cleaning fees, deposits, or additional charges? We take great pride in the cleanliness of our home and use a professional cleaning service as well a professional laundering service to ensure that the home is clean and sanitized between visitors. The cleaning fee is $150. Extra cleaning fees, property repairs, and replacement costs for missing items may be charged if the home or any of its items are left in unreasonable conditions or sustain damage. The nightly fee covers the city and state taxes.
What are the check- in/check- out procedures? •Check- in is at 4 pm. This allows our cleaning crew to get everything in top shape for your vacation! •You will be given a door code to allow for contact-free check- in at your convenience (after 4pm). The code will be sent to you just prior to your arrival date. •Check- out is by 10 am on your departure day. It is vital that you have departed on time so that our cleaners can get Heron's Cove Lake House ready for the next guests. •No long list of cleaning procedures here! If you have time, loading all dirty dishes and starting the dishwasher would be appreciated (but not required). Please put wet towels in provided laundry baskets, but leave bed linens on beds. Double check that you have your belongings, leave the home reasonably tidy, and travel home safely! •If the house is excessively messy or there are significant stains, vomit, blood, evidence of a party or smoking in the house, or other unreasonable messes to clean, additional cleaning fees of $100/hour will be charged to cover the additional cleaning services required.
Can I bring my boat? Absolutely! We have a very large dock with everything you need to tie up. There is a boat launch approximately 300 feet away on the other side of the cove, so put in there and be at Heron’s Cove in 60 seconds!
Can we swim in the lake? You will see many people swimming in the lake; however, do so at your own risk. There is no lifeguard on duty. The lake depth averages 12 feet with a maximum of 37 feet, but the cove is a shallow area, so there is absolutely no diving. Remember that this is Louisiana, and, although sightings are rare, the lake does have snakes and alligators like all bodies of water in Louisiana. We have kayaks, a canoe, life jackets, and fishing equipment available to enjoy the lake safely.
How's the WiFi and Cell Service? Lake Saint John is known for its natural beauty, cypress tress, countless bird species, and the best bass fishing in the state! It's not often that you get this sort of natural beauty right next to cell phone towers, and our home is no exception. We have Starlink internet service, which is the fastest option available in the area. If you enable WiFi calling on your cell phone, you should have no problem making and receiving calls and texts. While we hope that you are at Heron's Cove for total relaxation, you should also not have any difficulty using the internet for most internet browsing or work requiring internet (we often work remotely there!). We have 4 smart TVs in the home, and we have successfully streamed many shows; however, bad weather may sometimes interfere with streaming. Therefore, we cannot guarantee that you will be able to stay connected like you may be accustomed to doing. So, be ready to unplug as you unwind, just in case!
Is there a minimum rental age? Yes. The guest who makes the reservation must be at least 25-years of age. The guest making the reservation must be staying at Heron's Cove with the other guests and assumes responsibility for any damage caused to the home or property or any loss, injuries, or accidents suffered by any guests on property.
Can I have guests or a party? Heron's Cove sleeps up to 8 people (with sofa bed), and all guests must be listed on the reservation. There are absolutely no unauthorized parties allowed. Bringing unregistered guests/having a party without explicit permission will result in immediate cancellation of the reservation and removal from the property without refund.
Is Heron's Cove safe for babies and children? We treasure our vacations with our 3 kiddos, and we would love to host the youngest in your family, too! While there are a few "child proof" elements (e.g., taller furniture has been anchored to the walls, safety latches have been installed on the cabinet beneath the kitchen sink, and laundry pods are placed on a high shelf), our home, like all houses, has many features that are not safe for unsupervised children. Additionally, the house is on a lake, and the dock is not completely surrounded by railings to allow easy access to the water. Children must be closely supervised at all times around the home, water, fire features, and among other areas.
What if we have an issue while we are there? Our goal is always for you to be completely satisfied and have a delightful stay. If something goes wrong or you have a question or concern, please let us know right away. We will make every effort to fix the issue as soon as possible so you can get back to your best lake life!
